THE BELIEVER PART ONE. CHRIST; OUR IDENTITY

THE BELIEVER PART  ONE. CHRIST; OUR IDENTITY

When a man puts faith on the sacrifice of Jesus, he becomes a new being. He is not just a normal man. He is a man IN CHRIST. The man in Christ has a unique responsibility  to learn of his identity in Christ. The knowledge of who  you are as a believer regulates your  experience with God and your experience on earth.  Reading through the epistles  which  is the explanation of Genesis to Malachi you will see many references with : in him, by him, through him, in Christ, “. All these speak of our identity in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5

17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. note

18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. note

20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Notice it is ANY MAN. It is irrespective of the race, gender, tribe or nationality. The man may be rich or poor, free or bound, black or white. When that man believes that Jesus died for his sins to save him, such a man takes a new identity by the virtue of the Life of Christ in him. How is a man in Christ? By believing in Jesus to receive life. John 3:15-18 clearly states that we receive the eternal life of Jesus by believing in Him.
What are the potentials of this life we have received ? What does this new creature in Christ look like? What are the things he has and can do? We are admonished in 2 Cor. 5 to BEHOLD  the  New things. Many times the problem is that we pay so much attention to the old man instead of the new creature we have become.

THE IDENTITY OF THE BELIEVER IS CHRIST

1 John 5

9  If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
The believer takes on an identity by the virtue of the new birth. That identity is Christ. Hence, he is  IN CHRIST. This is by the virtue of the Life of Christ in him. Now that we have an identity, we must learn what is this identity. The testimony, proof, evidence and witness of believing in Jesus is the life of Christ in us.
This identity that we receive in CHRIST must be learned. The more we know of him the more we see ourselves. We have a responsibility  to keep beholding Him. The blessing fo being in Christ is Christ. He is all we have got in that we have His life. You cannot have someone’s life without having all that He has.
WHAT EVER that cannot be found in Christ can never be found  in the believer.
But you say man of God, we have many believers whose lives are not reflecting this identity. That is the essence of beholding this identity despite our  experiences.

James 1

22  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
The man that does the word is the man that does not forget His identity. He sees what God’s word says about him in Christ and live in the consciousness of that reality. That is doing the word. It is just like looking at the mirror and not forgetting how you look.
In this series, we are set out to learn what is in this identity. We will look at in Christ realities, that is, those realities that the man in Christ has become. We will see that the man in Christ is righteous, holy, sanctified, powerful, justified cannot be cursed in Christ. All these and many more will be examined in the subsequent part of this series.

DEAR BELIEVER,

YOU HAVE AN IDENTITY

CHRIST IS OUR HOLINESS

CHIRST IS OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS

CHRIST IS OUR POWER

CHRIST IS SANCTIFICATION

CHRIST IS OUR LIFE

(ponder on these )

CHRIST IS YOUR IDENTITY

WHO HE IS IS WHO YOU ARE

WHERE HE IS IS WHERE  YOU ARE

YOU ARE HIS TEMPLE

HE LIVES IN YOU AND THROUGH YOU

Glory to God. Hallelujah.
