THE POWER IN BLOOD OF JESUS
The Blood of Jesus is powerful in that it was shed for the remission of sins so we can have the life of God promised from the beginning. We must understand the power in the blood of Jesus so as to maximise it. The Blood of Jesus is used in the new testament to represent the atoning work of Christ and what we have because of this work. The Blood of Jesus we see in the new testament is either the physical blood of Jesus shed on the cross or figuratively the complete sacrifice of Christ for the remission of our sins so we can have life. Anything outside this is not scriptural. We must allow the Bible explain its words. We are not to interpret the Bible based on men’s words or traditions. Let God be true, let every man be a liar
Romans 5:
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
1 John 1 :
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
We are justified by the blood of Jesus. We are declared not guilty before God because of the blood of Jesus which is the sacrifice of Christ. Notice verse 7 of 1 John 1, the blood cleanses us from all sin. It is a continuous cleansing. This is the power in the blood. For us to fully understand what the blood of Jesus is we must look at what the blood is not.

WHAT THE BLOOD OF JESUS IS NOT
Many times we carry different practices from other religions or our traditions into what we do in Christ. Christianity is beyond religion. It is a life we receive in Christ. In this life there are no mysteries. There is nothing like the mystery of the blood. The mystery of the blood has been clearly revealed and documented in the epistles. Therefore it cannot be called mystery again. We see many practices among believers today in relation to the blood that are not scriptural. Examples such as covering people, places, or things with the blood, pleading the blood, sprinkling the blood, drinking the blood and many others.
But man of God, it is working. We are seeing miracles through these practices. THAT IT IS WORKING DOES NOT MEAN IT IS CORRECT. Power responds to Faith not right doctrine. You can as well believe in water, honey or anything then speak you will see results. We are not expected to form a practise and look for a Bible verse to explain it. We are expected to take the explanations we see in the scriptures. For more on the message beyond results please click here to read. Now let’s consider some of these practices that the blood is not meant for.
1.THE BLOOD IS NOT FOR COVERING. Many persons make declarations like I cover my food with the blood of Jesus. We are told to bless our food. Speak well of the food before eating. Blessing the food doesn’t include covering it. Many of this practices are from fetish practices. We know that by the blood we are accepted before God. We have come into innumerable company of angels by the virtue of Christ’s sacrifice. Therefore, we have Angels at our service. Hebrew 12: 22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. When it comes to protection, we are to say of the Lord is our refuge. Be given to declarations which will always put angels at work. Speak exactly what you want to see instead of saying I soak my car in the blood of Jesus. You are not a native doctor. You can say my car is preserved from accidents. The Blood is not for that reason. The only relevance of the blood is in the atoning work of Christ. What of covering of sin? The Blood of Jesus doesn’t cover our sins. It totally cleanses it in a way that God doesn’t deal with us according to our actions. Don’t forget THAT IT IS WORKING DOES NOT MEAN IT IS CORRECT.
2.THE BLOOD IS NOT FOR YOU TO BE SPRINKLING OR DRINKING. The use of blood in the Bible started in the old covenant. Once a year on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies to offer a blood sacrifice to atone for the sins of the people. The blood of a bull and of a goat was sprinkled on the altar. The life of the animal was poured out, given on behalf of the life of the people. When God cut a covenant treaty with his people at Sinai, Moses took the blood of oxen and sprinkled half of it on the altar and half on the people of Israel. (Exodus 24:6-8). We see in Hebrews that the blood of animals was not able to remove sin.
Hebrews 10
1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. note
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
IT IS NOT POSSIBLE for the blood of animals to take away sin. If not the sacrifices wouldn’t have been repeated. Also notice that in the old testament it was the priest that sprinkled the blood. Read Leviticus 16 to see the full description. In Christ, we are never told to be sprinkling the blood. We are only told that Jesus has shed His blood for our sins. You are to acknowledge the things that you have by the sacrifice of Jesus. Notice when a man says he is sprinkling the blood of Jesus, is it the real blood of Jesus ? NO. He may be using water or wine as symbols. Never forget that the blood of Jesus as seen in the scriptures only mean the physical blood of Jesus or the finished work of Christ for the forgiveness of our sins so we can have life. You cannot sprinkle the physical blood of Christ. He is not like the animals in the old testament. His work was ONCE AND FOR ALL. What of drinking the blood ? Can you actually drink the blood of Jesus ? No. What of Holy communion? Remember the blood was shed for the remission of sins. If you choose to eat bread and drink wine as a show of what Jesus has done, never forget that THERE IS NOTHING SACRED about the practise except the fact that you place faith on it. The most important is to KNOW that Jesus’ body was broken for your sins. Don’t forget, THAT IT IS WORKING DOES NOT MEAN IT IS CORRECT.

3.PLEADING THE BLOOD IS NOT BY DECLARING I PLEAD THE BLOOD. What does it mean to plead the blood? Imagine a lawyer goes to the court to defend his client, all he says is I PLEAD HIS CASE, I PLEAD HIS CASE, I PLEAD HIS CASE. It will obviously show the incompetence of the lawyer. The way to plead his case is to speak favourable things about him. You plead the blood of Jesus by knowing and speaking of what we have because of the blood of Jesus (the sacrifice of Christ ). You cannot plead the blood of Jesus by saying “I PLEAD THE BLOOD OF JESUS”. You are not performing ritual. You must not bring fetish and traditional practices to what we have in Christ. Now that we know we plead the blood by speaking favourably of what the blood has done , let’s look at in details of what we have by the blood of Jesus.
What of Blood money? The Blood was shed for the remission of our sins. Now that we are in Christ we can maximize the power of God to have money. The Bible teaches supernatural provision. But you cannot say that was why Jesus died. Many persons have money without the death of Christ. Anything anyman can have outside God can never be the reason why the blood of Jesus was shed. God can bring opportunities to you and cause things to fall in place even in finance. Why do we need to say this? Many persons have been frustrated becuase the gospel they heard was come to Jesus and become rich by the blood. They came after many years it seems no money. They become angry and bitter towards God. Note that why you come to Jesus is to have life that you can never have outside Him. You can maximise His life and enforce what you do. For detail explanations on this please read THE BLESSING PART ONE AND PART TWO
You will never see a reference in the new testament where we are told to cover with the blood, sprinkle the blood, or shout the blood. They are all unscriptural practices.
THE POWER IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS
The power in blood of Jesus is the fact that we are justified, forgiven, cleansed by the blood of Jesus (the sacrifice of Christ). Base on this forgiveness we now have fellowship with God without any record of sin or sense of guilt (unworthiness).
1.WE HAVE FORGIVENESS OF SINS BY THE BLOOD. The wages of sin is death. The wages of sin is not sorry. Adam brought sin into the world by His disobedience to the gospel. Romans 5:12-14. To pay for that sin Jesus needed to die so we can have the life of God as intended from the beginning. Now in Christ, we can boldly say WE HAVE FORGIVENESS OF SINS only by the blood of Jesus not the richness of our confession.
Ephesians 1: 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Colossians 1: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins
Colossians 2: 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Matthew 26: 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins
The word forgiveness is from the Greek word, aphesis, it was defined by Thayer as:
1.release from bondage or imprisonment
2.forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty
So to be forgiven of sin is to be let go of the punishment of sin as though you never committed it. It is to be delivered or pardoned of sin. The word aphesis was also used as deliverance(Luke 4:18), remission (Luk 24:47; Act 10:43; Heb 9:22; Heb 10:18 ), liberty (Luke 4:18). So, we have great liberty from the bondage of sin. BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS WE ARE PARDONED FOREVER OF OUR SINS IN CHRIST. This is to show how powerful that blood is. Pleading the blood will be declaring boldly that your sins are forgiven, past, present and future in Christ by the blood of Jesus.

2.THE BLOOD OF JESUS IS OUR COMPLETE RANSOM.
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. (1 Peter 1: 18-19, NLT)
And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation … (Revelation 5:9, ESV
By what Adam did brought man into the bondage of sin, death and the devil. But thank God for Jesus who came and paid the full ransom for our freedom. Now we can boldly declare that we are free from sin and death. Now we know that the devil is finished by the blood of Jesus(the sacrifice of Christ ). Hallelujah. That is the power in the blood.

3.WE ARE JUSTIFIED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS
Now that our sins have been removed and paid for, we can stand before God without any sense of guilt or condemnation all because of what Jesus has done. We know by human efforts no man can stand before God without guilt.
Romans 5: 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him
Note the truth, JUSTIFIED BY THE BLOOD. We have been declared to be innocent by the blood of Jesus. This is the Good news. Why then do people go to hell if Jesus blood paid for our sins? IT IS SIMPLY because they refused to go to heaven by accepting what the blood has done.
You see that it is pride to believe you are not righteous as the man in Christ. In fact, you are the proof that God is righteous in that He justifies the ungodly. 2 Corinthians 5: 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Romans 4: 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
You see that Christ became our sin sacrifice, He was made sin so WE can become the righteousness of God in Christ. That is the power in the blood of Jesus.

4.WE ARE FOREVER SANCTIFIED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS.
So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. (Hebrews 13:12, ESV)
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
The sacrifice of Christ makes us to be sanctified. Sanctification is not a second work of grace. It is purely ONCE AND FOR ALL BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS (sacrifice of Jesus). We have been purified, washed by the blood. We are set apart and made holy by the blood. It is because we are sanctified that we live sanctified lives. We don’t live sanctified lives to be sanctified. For a believer to say he is not sanctified is to insult the blood of Jesus.
So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. (Hebrews 13:12, ESV)

5.WE HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD AND ARE FOREVER ACCEPTED BEFORE GOD BECAUSE OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS.
But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:13, NLT)
Hebrews 10:19
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus
We can now fellowship with God by the blood. We fellowship because we already have the fellowship. In fact, the holy of holies seen in the old testament is Now in us for we carry the presence of God via His Spirit.
It is the power in the blood that gives us surety that our fellowship with the father CAN NEVER BE BROKEN. Many people think that when they sin they break fellowship with God. That is not scriptural. First, you must realise that you didn’t get the fellowship by your action. You got it by the blood of Jesus. So you cannot by your action loose it. Don’t flatter yourself. It is beyond your power or free will. Remember the blood cleanses us from all sins. It is a continuous cleansing. This shows you that you cannot loose fellowship with God because of sin. Fellowship with the father is strictly because of what Jesus has done. Now we share with Him in that we have His spirit.
But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:13, NLT)

In summary, we have seen so far the power in the blood of Jesus.
It is that blood (sacrifice of Jesus )THAT GETS US SAVED AND KEEPS US SAVED.
It is because of that blood we are forever FORGIVEN.
It is because of that blood we can RELATE AND FELLOWSHIP with God as our father.
It by the blood we HAVE PEACE WITH GOD.
It is by the blood we are forever justified (MADE NOT GUILTY) before God.
It is by the blood WE ARE SANCTIFIED.
