GOD REVEALED PART 2. GOD =PLUS ALL GOOD MINUS EVERY EVIL

GOD REVEALED PART 2. GOD =PLUS ALL GOOD MINUS EVERY EVIL
GOD is good and His mercy endures forever. GOD IS ALL TOGETHER GOOD. THERE IS NO EVIL IN HIM. Here lies the focus of this part. In  the part one of this series, we established that Christ reveals the character of God. Christ is God made flesh, so to know who God truly is, we must look at Christ. Click here to read part one of God revealed if you have not read it. It very important you read it first for proper understanding of this part.  Understanding the nature of God is very key in our walk with God.  Many people are serving the devil as God. In fact, some even believe the devil is better than God. Like I have heard people say, God’s response to desires takes longer time than the devil’s. This is not true. The question is if God is doing evil, what then is the devil doing?  All good? God has always been good. Evil and wickedness is with the devil and men .
Having established in part one that Jesus is the certainty of the Character of God,  now Let’s look at one basic nature of God. We have seen the image of God in human flesh in Christ. So many people believe God can not be known, so we cannot predict the nature of God. God can choose to do anything. If that is true what then is the essence of the Bible. If God wanted to remain unknown He wouldn’t have been made manifest in the flesh in the person of Jesus. We know that God has many ways He does His things, but in the many ways, we can be certain of His nature. This is because we have seen His face in Christ. We have seen how God looks like, contrary to the different views of God many prophets before Christ gave.

Hebrews 1

1  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Christ is the express image of God’s substance. He is the reflection of God’s view. So when we see Christ we see God.
James 1

17  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Every good and perfect giving is from God, the father of lights, not the father of darkness. God is the father, the source of light. Anything darkness can not be from God. Notice the descriptions of God in James 1. He is the one with whom there is no variableness, no changing. This is the certainty of His Character.  GOD IS NOT AMBIVALENT.  That is, God is not good and bad. There is no shadow of turning in Him. God is all together good.
But man of God, if God is all together good? What happened in the old testament part of the Bible? What killed the Egyptians? Who was doing all those evil? Is it that Jesus came to get God born again and make Him look Good?
Obviously those views that were presented of God as evil can not be God. Before Jesus came, Men couldn’t really know God. This was due to the fall of man. Man was alienated from the life of God. So, people couldn’t really separate the devil, angels, God and man. This is what we see all through the old testament books of the Bible.
Many times, it is either a man was using the power of God or the devil was involve in those evils. God is seen in goodness and salvation
Let’s take the case of Jonah for an instance. If you have ever read the book of Jonah, you will realise that Jonah was blaming God for His kindness. That was a prophet there. In the first chapters of the book of Jonah, it looked like Jonah was running from an angry God. We later saw why Jonah didn’t want to go preach in Nineveh was because he knew God didn’t really want to destroy Nineveh. Let’s look at Jonah chapter 4.

Jonah 4

1  But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.

2  And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thouart a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

3  Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.

4  Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry? note

5  So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.

6  And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd. note note

7  But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.

8  And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. note

9  And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death. note note

10  Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night: notenote

11  And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; andalso much cattle?

In verse 3, Jonah revealed why He was escaping from the assignment. He knew God will not destroy them. Jonah was angry at God for sparing Nineveh. Same way many people get angry today when they see a renown sinner like a prostitute, an armed robber get saved by the grace of God. They will expect that maybe the prostitute will not give birth or will suffer. Before there eyes, the person will be flourishing. This is the goodness of God. GOD IS NOT MAN.
Notice, God had to teach prophet Jonah graciousness. God made a gourd, a small tree grow and wither. Jonah was angry over a tree he didn’t create. How much more man that God created.
But you said what happened to the ship that Jonah entered? Was it not God that caused the tempest?  Is it God? You must realise that Jonah was a very superstitious man. The book of Jonah was written by this Jonah.  So whenever you see the Lord as in many other testament books, you Must not run off to think it is God. This is because this guys don’t really know God.  The clarity of the nature of God was revealed to us in Christ. THEREFORE  WE MUST JUDGE ANYTHING WE SEE ABOUT GOD BY WHAT WE SEE IN CHRIST.  This is how we are to read Jonah. According to Jonah, the Lord send tempest in his way to Tarshish. Now we see that, Jesus never sent any storm. Instead He was calming storms. How can the same God that sent the storm send the fish to swallow Jonah, seeking his preservation. God is NEVER  SCHIZOPHRENIC. God does not have  contradictory or antagonistic qualities or attitudes. God cannot be good and bad same time.  Obviously, we see that Jonah was a very superstitious person. Jonah believed it was God that sent the storm. So the devil took advantage of his fear to torment him. Where we see God is in safety. God sent a big fish to swallow him and preserve him for three days. Out of God’s love not wanting Nineveh to perish, God made sure Jonah went to Nineveh. This is the true nature of God. He has always been good. Anything evil cannot be found in God.
Man of God , are you now saying, GOD CAN NOT USE EVIL TO TEACH US A LESSON? Yes. He can never do such. God cannot use evil to correct us. When God wants to correct us, He does that by instructing us. How many person did Jesus inflict sickness on to teach moral lesson? Even all the times He corrected his disciples, He never used evil. Many times, the devil deceives believers to think that the evil they are passing through is God teaching them a lesson. The question is why would God have to make you sick first in other to teach you? What will God gain from that? Nothing. It is very true that we can learn different lessons when we experience evil. But, we can also learn those lessons without the sad experiences. When you understand this, it will help you to stand and resist the evils. You would be able to stand in faith and trust God for deliverance from evil. Not thinking God is in charge of the evil. Issues abound in this world. Tribulations abound, but we are sure of safety, deliverance and peace on God’s side.
How do you feel when they say your father is evil ? Your father is a wicked man? Your father is a killer?
God is our father. It is the devil that kills, steals and destroys. Man can also use the power of God to kill. We see all through the scriptures men using God’s power to destroy. That is not God.

GOD IS ALL TOGETHER GOOD.
