The myth of Tomorrow (redeeming the time)
Eph 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Half of the things we never do are the things we put off till tomorrow.
You remember how you said you would really start preaching the gospel and do ministry once you got into the university?
Then you got into school and the workload was just so much right from year one. You could barely preach or do ministry and before you knew it you were in your third year
Then you started looking forward to graduation so that you can finally finally be free from school work and dedicate much more time to the study of the word, to prayer, evangelism and the things of the spirit
You couldn’t just wait to leave school and finally give yourself to the word, prayer and ministry
Then you graduated and you got busy with life and before you knew it youth service came
And still you couldn’t do much as regards the study of the word, prayer, soul winning and discipleship
You had as it were legitimate reasons. Your allowee was small. You could barely feed.
So you began looking forward to yet another tomorrow when you would finish youth service and finally have time for the Lord
It’s all a scam!
Hey Sis, you remember how passionate you were for the Lord, but then marriage happened and with it kids
I know you’re doing well caring for the kids and family. But that can never be your ministry
Yeah, when the kids are all grown up you will serve the Lord
It’s a scam!
Now is the acceptable time!
Hey Bro, Sis,
You remember those books you bought but never read after months of buying them
At a time you were just excited, you wanted Rabbi’s books so you got them.
But yet months after they are still fresh and unread. You’ll start tomorrow
That tomorrow doesn’t exist
Start the first page now!
Remember how you planned to always give to and support the gospel?
But then you never had enough to begin. You’ll never have enough!
Give what you have now and when the more comes you won’t struggle giving
I know you have always wanted to give to your pastor and or to that other pastor who has been teaching you sound doctrine but you’ve never had enough
So you allowed your not having ‘enough’ stop you from giving to them
When will you ever have this enough?
Give what you have now and when more comes then you will give more.
Don’t hesitate to give a prophet a cup of water because you couldn’t afford a bottle of milk
Don’t procrastinate preaching to one soul, teaching and disciplining one soul because you didn’t have the time to preach to ten
Start with one soul
And start today
Start now!
Tomorrow doesn’t exist
Do that which you must do today and do it now
You may not be able to start a church now but what about a bible study group?
You may not be able to send that big cash now to your pastor but what about recharge card?
What about a meal? Some nice fruits? Start somewhere
Start now
You may not be able to get twenty people filled with the Holy ghost at once now but what about one person?
Okay, you don’t know how to preach to everyone on the bus or in the class. Maybe it’s noisy
But what about your seat mate in class or on the bus?
You may not have the time to pray five, two, one hour in tongues now but how about 30 mins?
How about you start now
Because tomorrow will never come.
John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work
Tomorrow is a myth. Today is the set time
2 Cor 6
1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day ofsalvation have I succoured thee:behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
How do you receive the grace of God in vain? By not labouring with the grace given.
You’ve been given great grace, don’t let let it be in vain
Grace here is not grace for salvation but grace for ministry.
The context would reveal this
Vs 3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour ofrighteousness on the right hand and on the left,
8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
9 As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
By every means possible, preach the gospel. Heal the sick, disciple men
Wether in stripes, prison, labour
In fasting, in hunger thirst,
No matter what, just serve the Lord today, and when tomorrow comes you won’t be found not doing so.
The grace of Jesus with your spirit
Amen. by Josiah Wordsmith
