THE STORY OF THE GODS. PART 1. THE SUPERNATURAL ABILITIES OF THE BELIEVER
The man that has believed the sacrifice of Jesus is beyond a normal man. There is Nothing ordinary about this man. He is full of supernatural abilities. This man is the real SUPERMAN. His story is the STORY OF the gods. In this series we will be looking at the supernatural abilities of the believer.
Mark 9 :23……… all things are possible to him that believeth.
This words of Jesus are clear. All things are possible to them that believe. The them that believe are the believing ones that is the new creation. This is because of the faith of God they have received at New birth (more of this will be discussed later on my series on faith ). Notice it did not say SOME things but ALL things. The all things actually means all things. Also notice it is to them that believe not to God.
THE POWER OF GOD IN MEN
Everyone believes God has power. Where people fail in understanding is knowing that this power has now been willed to man at New birth. We know God can do it but if that is all you know you will not live a victorious Christian life. We must realise that WE TOO can do it because WE HAVE GOD IN US AND AS US. God has given us His power on earth. Ask yourself this question when the Bible said ALL THINGS, DOES IT REALLY MEAN ALL THINGS? Take some minutes now to THINK. All things possible to me as a believer. In Acts 1:8 we see that we have received power when we received the Holy Spirit at New birth. This means that the power and ability we have now is God by His Spirit in Us.
Acts 1: 8 But you’ll receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you’ll be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
What I am actually saying is that as a believer the POWER YOU HAVE IS GOD. Though we seems to be limited because of mortal body, but we can reign on earth even now with this power. This power is given to you to bear witness of Christ. This means that people should not be looking for Christ when you are around. It is this power that Paul was praying for the Ephesians Church to know.
Ephesians 1:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, note
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Note the adjectives used to describe this power. Exceeding, Greatness. The word exceeding is huperballō . It means what surpasses, to go beyond, to exceed, beyond the usual mark. This means that this power that we have EXCEEDS TARGET. For example, if you want to kill one small ant, you explode the place. That is the exceeding we are talking of. The word megethos means greatness, magnitude. All these describes the POWER WE HAVE AS BELIEVERS. This is why Paul said we have to be praying to KNOW this power. We don’t pray to HAVE POWER, we have power already. We Pray to KNOW the power we have and TO PUT THE POWER INTO OPERATION in changing things. Notice verse 20 of Ephesians 1 says it is this same power that raised Jesus from the death. As Rev. Eghosa will always put it, “this means that if you were there when Jesus was to rise you would have been able to raise Him from the death”. What a great power We have in Christ.
MYTH VERSUS REAL POWER
Many times when people hear of powerful manifestations what comes to their mind is the devil. Many people actually believe that the devil is more powerful than God. I usually give this example while teaching on power. If as I am teaching I disappear to the back and then to the front, what will be your reaction? Will you not say it is the magic power of the devil? It just shows the extent at which your mind has not been renewed in what we can do. I remember ministering healing to a young lady in a school, in my presence we saw her swollen legs dissolve and become normal. Every body started saying it was magic and started calling me super man. I have to explain to them with more miracles that it is the power of Christ.
Psalm 62: 11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God
Power belongs to God not the devil. All power, I mean all power belongs to God. To the glory of God we have been made partakers of this power as men in Christ. Divinity became humanity in Christ so that humanity can partake of divinity in Christ. But man of God, are you now saying the devil does not have power? What of all these its obvious works in the land? The devil doesn’t have power. Its Power only exits in ignorance of what Christ has done and unbelieve. Christ in HIS death destroyed the devil. For more on the powerlessness of the devil and how to deal with its tricks click here to read my write up on THE POWERLESSNESS OF THE DEVIL. All power belongs to God, not that it called the devil. It is a myth to believe that the devil has power when the believer comes to town.
When we talk of the abilities of the believer we are talking of the abilities of God. This is because we have been made to be God’s representation on earth. We are made to be the shadow of God. This means that when people see us they should wonder is this a man or God? When they now come close, they discover it is a man that have God. (My post on God in man talks on this).
Jesus In Mark 16 spoke of the abilities of the new creation.
Mark 16: 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Jesus instructed His disciples to preach the gospel. Those that believe this gospel are baptised (immersed) into Christ. Those that believed not are condemned. Condemnation is rejection of the good news of what Christ has done. Then Jesus went further to describe the signs, the symptoms of those that believe. Notice it didn’t say this sign shall follow the preachers. So it is not only for the pastors. It is for every believer. The pastors are set apart to show the believers what they can do. Ephesians 4:11-14. According to this scripture, we see that every
believer can
cast out devils,
can speak in New tongues,
can take up serpents and it deadly things without being hurt
and can heal the sick.
All these and much more will be discussed in the subsequent parts of this series. We must learn from the Bible how to live the supernatural life. We have the ability already in us.
In this days and generation there is a great awakening of the believer. Just like the people
of Lystra said of Paul, the gods has come to us in human flesh.
Acts 14:11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.
It shall be said of believers in this generation. And you are one them. Yes miracles are real
and are normal for you.
